The Michelin Group and Fives Join Forces
March 2, 2016French companies Michelin and Fives have formed a joint venture aimed at developing and marketing industrial 3D metal-printing machines. Fives Michelin Additive Solutions will be 50-percent owned by Fives and 50-percent by Michelin and will benefit from a financial contribution of at least €25 million in its first 3 yr. Initially, the firm will employ 20 people from the Michelin and Fives teams and integrate additional expertise. The company will be located near Clermont-Ferrand in central France.
Fives Michelin Additive Solutions will support applications in the automotive, aerospace, healthcare and other industries by offering the design and manufacture of machines and complete production lines. It also will provide related services including redesign of parts, production support and training.
