Sciaky EBAM Deposited More Than 6 Tons of Ti in 2020

Officials from Sciaky Inc. announced that the company’s Electron Beam Additive Manufacturing (EBAM) technology deposited more than 12,000 lb. of titanium in 2020. The vast majority of this titanium deposition ties to the production of parts for field-certified aerospace and defense applications, as well as prototypes for R&D applications.

EBAM, a directed energy deposition process, produces via titanium, tantalum, tungsten, Inconel, niobium, nickel-copper/copper-nickel, aluminum, molybdenum, zircalloy and stainless-steel wire feedstock.

Sciaky’s EBAM systems can produce parts ranging from 8 in. to 19 ft. long, and features gross deposition rates to 25 lb./hr. The technology’s IRISS (Interlayer Real-time Imaging and Sensing System) offers real-time adaptive closed-loop control, and can sense and digitally self-adjust metal deposition with precision and repeatability, according to company officials.
